On a beautiful California fall day thousands made their way to the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes for the 19th annual Palos Verdes Concourse d’Elegance.
More than 200 classic and specialty cars were arrayed on the verdant golf course on the cliffs
In addition to examining the vehicles in competition, fans also spent time in Restoration Alley where experts like Fast Cars Ltd. showed how classic cars are prepared for competition.
Youth was well represented this year with high school students from Palos Verdes showing an electric car they had designed and built while Anaheim Future Hotrodders practiced disassembling and reassembling a Chevy engine at the Edelbrock Trailer in less than 30 minutes as they prepared for national competition in November.
Students from the College of Design in Pasadena showed how autos are conceived via clay models, drawings and computer aided design.
Younger children donned smocks and painted a yellow VW Beatle in every color of the rainbow at the PV Art Center booth.
Booths in the boutique area were busy selling jewelry, T-shirts, straw hats, artwork and other souvenirs, while the Club’s catering staff provided meals to suit all budgets and tastes.
“It was your best Concours ever,” said one satisfied visitor on departing for home. “I’ll be back on September 16, 2012!”
